Robot Structural Analysis MCP: model, load and analyse by asking

Ask, and it analyses. AI inside Autodesk Robot Structural Analysis with 24 real actions — nodes and bars, loads and combinations, the calculation and its reactions, displacements and bar forces. Everything runs on your machine.

The structural model, in plain language

Six structure actions: nodes and bars, sections from Robot’s database, and fixed, pinned, roller or custom supports. New projects too — without losing unsaved work.

  • SI everywhere — m, N, N·m — nothing silently rescaled.
  • Unknown section names are refused, not modelled wrong.

Loads and combinations

Load cases, self-weight, nodal and uniform bar loads, and ULS, SLS or ALS combinations.

Run it, then read the answer

The calculation runs without dialogs and says if it failed, and why. Then: reactions with their sum, displacements, and forces along each bar.

The sum is deliberate: reactions that don't match the load are the first sign of a wrong model. The assistant builds, runs and reports — you judge.

C# against the Robot API, sandboxed

When no action fits, it writes C# against Robot’s API — sandboxed, with no file, network or registry access. You can switch it off.

Two ways to use it

Inside Robot. Pilot Chat, docked from Add-Ins → AEC Pilot for Robot. Its health check flags bars without sections, missing supports and load cases.

From your own LLM. Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor or Antigravity over MCP — one click, nothing else to install. Local only, and off until you turn it on.

Modelling in Revit, detailing in Advance Steel? One licence covers them all.

What you can ask

  • “Build a portal frame: two 4 m columns, a 6 m beam, fixed supports, HEA 200 everywhere.”
  • “Add a 5 kN/m live load on the beam and a 1.35 G + 1.5 Q combination.”
  • “Run the analysis and give me the reactions — do they add up to the applied load?”
  • “What is the largest moment in the beam, and where?”
  • “Which bars have no section yet?”

Frequently asked questions

Can AI run a structural analysis in Robot?

Yes. It builds or edits the open model, runs Robot’s own solver and reads the results back. It builds, runs and reports — you check.

Is there an MCP server for Robot Structural Analysis?

Yes — AEC Pilot runs one inside Robot 2024–2027, with 24 actions and one-click setup for Claude, ChatGPT / Codex, Cursor or Antigravity.

Which Robot versions are supported?

Robot Structural Analysis Professional 2024–2027. On 2025, install Update 1 or later first.

Does it need a model open?

For most actions, yes — and they say so when none is open. Reading the context and starting a project work without one.

Which units does it use?

SI: metres, newtons, newton-metres. Ask in kN or mm — everything sent to Robot is SI, so nothing is silently rescaled.

Does my model leave my computer?

No. Everything runs on your machine and the MCP server listens on localhost only. Your models are never uploaded.

How does it connect to Claude?

One click: pick Claude Desktop, Claude Code, ChatGPT / Codex, Cursor or Antigravity and AEC Pilot writes the connection, keeping your other MCP servers. Or skip it and use Pilot Chat, docked inside Robot.

Do I need a separate licence for Robot?

No. One AEC Pilot licence covers all eight applications on the same machine.
