Run Your Models with AI: Revit, Navisworks & Civil 3D — MCP Connector

Clash detection, driven by conversation

Clash Detective is where coordination weeks are won or lost — and where the clicking is worst. 22 clash actions cover the whole cycle:

  • Create and configure tests — tolerance, type and both selections.
  • Run one or all, and read the counts back.
  • Triage — group, set status and comment, all from the chat.
  • A viewpoint and image per result, so reports show the problem.
  • Calculate minimum clearance between two selections before anything is modelled.
  • Your own report — HTML, CSV or JSON.

Clash actions need Navisworks Manage. Everything else works in Simulate too.

4D and the TimeLiner schedule

Fourteen 4D actions: tasks, geometry links and — the day-saver — rule-based bulk auto-attach, mapping hundreds of objects to tasks with a dry run first. Plus task types, appearances, date roll-up, CSV export and dated progress snapshots.

Federation, sets and viewpoints

List what's in the federation, append, remove and refresh files, and see what each model contributes. Search and selection sets — folders included — follow your team's naming, every time.

Viewpoints with overrides and comments, camera, clipping, transparency, hide and isolate — plus quantification takeoff.

Two ways to use it

Inside Navisworks. Pilot Chat, docked in the app. Ask, and it happens in your open model.

From your own LLM. Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor or Antigravity over MCP — one click, nothing else to install. Local only, and it stops when you say so.

Also on Revit, AutoCAD or Civil 3D? See Revit MCP and AutoCAD & Civil 3D MCP — one licence covers them all.

Navisworks clash detection with AI: from clash test to report

What you can ask

  • “Run every clash test and tell me which ones got worse since last week.”
  • “Group the structural-vs-MEP clashes by level and export an HTML report with images.”
  • “Attach these 400 objects to the schedule by rule, dry run first.”
  • “Append the new architectural NWC and tell me what changed in the federation.”
  • “Make a search set for every pipe over 200 mm and put it in the MEP folder.”

Frequently asked questions

Is there an MCP server for Navisworks?

Autodesk doesn't publish one — as of September 2026 its MCP servers cover Revit, AutoCAD and Civil 3D only. AEC Pilot runs one inside Navisworks Manage and Simulate 2023–2027, with 95 actions and one-click setup for Claude, ChatGPT / Codex, Cursor or Antigravity.

Can I use AI in Navisworks?

Yes, two ways: Pilot Chat docked inside Navisworks, or your own assistant over MCP. Either way it runs clash tests, builds the 4D schedule and manages the federation — locally.

Can AI run clash detection in Navisworks?

Yes. 22 clash actions: create and run tests, group and triage results, set status and comments, capture viewpoints and images, measure clearance and write HTML, CSV or JSON reports — in the real Clash Detective.

Does it work on a federated model?

Yes, that's the point. It lists, appends, removes and refreshes models and reports each one's contribution — no clicking through the Selection Tree.

Can it build the 4D TimeLiner schedule?

Yes. 14 TimeLiner actions: tasks, geometry links, rule-based auto-attach, task types, appearances, date roll-up, CSV export and progress snapshots.

Which Navisworks versions are supported?

Navisworks Manage and Simulate 2023–2027, each with its own build — and each tested inside that release.

Does my model leave my computer?

No. Everything runs on your machine and the MCP server listens on localhost only. Your models are never uploaded.

How does it connect to Claude?

One click: pick Claude Desktop, Claude Code, ChatGPT / Codex, Cursor or Antigravity and AEC Pilot writes the connection, keeping your other MCP servers. Or skip it and use Pilot Chat, docked inside Navisworks.

Is clash detection available in Navisworks Simulate?

No — Clash Detective is Manage-only. TimeLiner, sets, viewpoints and the federation work in both.
