Inventor MCP: drive iLogic, sheet metal and assemblies by asking
Ask, and it builds. AI inside Autodesk Inventor with 73 real actions — parameters, iLogic, sheet metal and assembly checks. Everything runs on your machine.

iLogic, without opening the Rule Editor
iLogic rules hide inside documents, in a tiny editor, and nobody remembers which rule sets what. Six iLogic actions cover the whole loop:
- List every rule in the document.
- Read a rule — so the assistant can fix or extend yours.
- Create, update or delete rules.
- Run a rule and read back what it did.
Add the parameter and model-state actions, describe the behaviour in a sentence, and let the assistant write the rule.

Sheet metal and the flat pattern
Three actions: convert to sheet metal, create the flat pattern and read its extents — the blank size for nesting and quoting. Change a parameter and read the new size, without opening the flat pattern yourself.
Assemblies: constraints, BOM and interference
Eleven assembly actions: place and ground components, add and list constraints, walk the tree, switch model and occurrence states, export the bill of materials and run interference checks.
Six drawing actions — sheets, base and projected views, parts lists — take a checked assembly straight to a drawing.

Parts, and why every feature is verified
Eleven feature actions — extrude, revolve, fillet, chamfer, shell, holes and patterns — on top of seven sketch actions.
Each feature is checked after it is created: Inventor can build an unhealthy feature without an error, so we verify instead of trusting. Face and edge lookup lets the assistant name geometry instead of clicking it.
Two ways to use it
Inside Inventor. Pilot Chat, docked in the app. Ask, and it happens in your open document.
From your own LLM. Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor or Antigravity over MCP — one click, nothing else to install. Local only, and it stops when you say so.
Also on Revit, AutoCAD, Navisworks, 3ds Max or Robot? One licence covers them all.
What you can ask
- “List the iLogic rules in this part and tell me which one sets the plate thickness.”
- “Make the bracket 12 mm thick, rebuild the flat pattern and give me the blank size.”
- “Check this assembly for interference and tell me which components overlap.”
- “Export the BOM to Excel, structured, with part numbers and quantities.”
- “Create a drawing sheet with a base view and two projected views of this part.”
Frequently asked questions
Is there an MCP server for Inventor?
Autodesk doesn't publish one — as of September 2026 its MCP servers cover Revit, AutoCAD, Civil 3D and Fusion, not Inventor. AEC Pilot runs one inside Inventor 2027, with 73 actions and one-click setup for Claude, ChatGPT / Codex, Cursor or Antigravity.
Can AI write and run my iLogic rules?
Yes. Six actions cover list, read, create, update, delete and run. It works on the rules already in your part or assembly, so it can fix or extend what you wrote.
Does it handle sheet metal and flat patterns?
Yes: convert to sheet metal, create the flat pattern and read its extents — the number you need for nesting and quoting. Drive the part by parameter and read the new blank size back.
What can it do with assemblies?
Eleven actions: place and ground components, manage constraints, walk the tree, set states, export the BOM and run interference checks — the tedious part, handled.
Which Inventor versions are supported?
Inventor 2027 (.NET 10). Inventor LT is not supported.
Does my model leave my computer?
No. Everything runs on your machine and the MCP server listens on localhost only. Your parts, assemblies and drawings are never uploaded.
How does it connect to Claude?
One click: pick Claude Desktop, Claude Code, ChatGPT / Codex, Cursor or Antigravity and AEC Pilot writes the connection, keeping your other MCP servers. Or skip it and use Pilot Chat, docked inside Inventor.
Do I need a separate licence for Inventor?
No. One AEC Pilot licence covers all eight applications on the same machine.
